The Unraveling of Emlyn DuLaine (The Rivenlea Sphere Series Book #1) by Lindsay Franklin Reviewed

About the book:

Title: The Unraveling of Emlyn DuLaine

Author: Lindsay Franklin

Series: The Rivenlea Sphere Series Book #1

Genre: YA Christian Fantasy

Pages: 416

Publisher: Enclave

A shattered heart, a fate foretold. The world undone by tales of old.

Emlyn DuLaine just wants to know what happened to her sister, Camille, seven years ago on the fateful day she vanished—literally. Emlyn witnessed Camille unravel and disappear, but no one believes her. Since they think she’s crazy, the least the cops could do is solve Camille’s case. Is a little closure too much to ask?

But Emlyn’s life is upended when she is pulled through a portal into the fantasyland of her childhood imaginings—a magical library holding the storyworlds of every story ever published. And trouble is brewing in the land of Rivenlea. Rogue characters threaten their plot lines, and broken classics are beginning to crumble, but Emlyn only wants to find Camille.

As she searches for her sister, Emlyn begins to learn the reality of Rivenlea and her own origins. A nefarious plot is afoot, and the line between fact and fiction is becoming hopelessly blurred. The truth threatens the storyworlds, Rivenlea, and Earth—the fabric of creation, itself.

My Thoughts:

Lindsay Franklin creates worlds that you want to live in. I loved the creativity of a magical library. As with her previous books, she wraps her stories around stories in one-way shape, or form, and as a reader that is like putting me in a candy store.

In The Unraveling of Emlyn DuLaine I fell head-first into a magical world and I didn't want to leave. I loved Emlyn's spunk. Spunky characters are my favorite, especially when it's a girl.

I enjoy reading young adult books, but fantasy wasn't one of my top genres until Lindsay Franklin wrote The Story Peddler and then I was hooked.

Let's talk about the beauty of the cover! Those purples and greens are as bright and colorful as the book is.

Bottom Line: If you're looking for a new series to start give this book a shot. I promise it will brighten your imagination.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via the publisher. I was not required to write a review.

Books I Wish Were Around When I Was a Teen

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday post. Today's topic is books for my younger self. Well, since I was quite a reader as a kid and teen I thought I'd do a list of books I wish were around when I was a teen/young adult.

The Hagenheim Series by Melanie Dickerson

A Court of Thorn and Roses Series by Sarah J. Mass

The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

The Gifting Series by Katie Ganshert

The Ravenspire Series by C.J. Redwine

The Weaver Trilogy by Lindsay Franklin

The Sunrise at Normandy Series by Sarah Sundin

A Class of Their Own Series by Jen Turano

The Veritas Project by Frank Peretti

Treasures of His Love Series by Mesu Andrews

I am so thankful that there are such great books out there for our teens and young adults to read. I read a lot of missionary books - UGH - as a kid and teen. I would've loved to have more variety.

What do you wish were around when you were a kid? Let me know in the comments!

My Best Debut or New To Me Authors and YA Reads of 2019

Surprisingly, this is the smallest grouping so far. While I love debut/new to me authors I am so super picky that I don't read as many as I used to. I have enjoyed so many YA novels and I don't have any idea why I didn't read very many last year.

Debut / New to Me Authors

Young Adult

Are any of my debut / new to me authors or young adult choices on your list? Let me know in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday - Books I Need To Move Up On My TBR Pile

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to another edition of Top Ten Tuesday sponsored by The Artsy Reader Girl. The topic is books on my TBR that I'm avoiding and why. I spent Friday and Saturday going through books and organizing my bookcases, pictured below, and found books that I've purchased that need to be moved up on my TBR.

I need to read one of my own purchased books in between a book I'm reviewing. The problem, a review book arrives in the mail and goes on my review shelf,
pictured here. So, I'll go and grab a book off of here and not take one off of my other shelves. Well, that is in the process of being changed. 😉😊

Now it's your turn. . . What book(s) are you avoiding and why or what book(s) need to be moved up on your TBR pile? Tell me in the comments!
