Top Ten Tuesday - - - Favorite Places to Read

 

Hi, and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Today's topic is my favorite places to read. 

ONE - My backyard with my waterfall going.

TWO - The beach . . . my favorite would be the North Shore beach on Oahu or New Smyrna Beach in Florida. 

THREE - On the front porch of our friend's cabin in the swing.

FOUR - On the couch with my four legged pal.

FIVE - In bed . . . just before I fall asleep.

SIX - My gramma had this awesome tree in her front yard and I'd love to climb up into it and read. 

SEVEN - Under the pews at church, when I was a kid and my parents practiced with the choir.

EIGHT - Long car rides!

NINE - While flying!

TEN -  Waiting for the doctor/dentist/hygienist. I love that I can read right on my phone.

Top Ten Tuesday . . . Titles That Are Questions

Happy Tuesday! This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic is books I read or could've read in one sitting if I'd had the time. I was having a difficult time coming up with a list for that so I decided to do last week's topic of book titles that are questions. I'd already planned to do that one but got busy and then our internet died. 

I had to search Goodreads for books with questions because outside of Dr. Seuss ones I couldn't find any in my lists other than Are You There God, it's Me Margaret. I read that as a pre-teen.

This was such a nostalgic post for me. So many favored books that bring back lots of memories.

Favorite Characters From My Childhood

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! I had my post all written about villain characters and then I realized a few of them would give away plot in some new releases so I scrapped them and am starting over. Figuring out my top ten favorite childhood character's was a lot easier, too!

ONE - Ramona Quimby from Ramona the Pest by Beverly Clearly. She was my buddy!

TWO - Fern from Charlotte's Web. I lived in the suburbs and I loved it when we went out to our friend's farm in the country. I envied Fern.

THREE - How could you not love Stuart Little? He was this fun little mouse that just got himself into all kinds of trouble!

FOUR - Ralph, I believed was Stuart's cousin because he got himself into just as much trouble!

FIVE - Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie. I just wanted her to punch Nellie in the nose for being so mean to her. She was really the true all American girl!

SIX - I remember reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at night under the covers with a flashlight. Aslan was courageous, brave, and would do anything for anyone. It took me awhile for my childhood brain to figure out who he mirrored. But once I did God had me lock, stock and barrel!

SEVEN - I read A Wrinkle in Time shortly after The Chronicles of Narnia and Meg quickly became a favored character.

EIGHT - I think every coming of age girl in the 70's read this book. I loved Margaret and could relate to the story.

NINE - Ann with an E was sassy, snarky, smart, and a bookworm.

TEN - My first ugly cry book. Billy, Dan and Little Ann are characters that made a huge impression on me as a young 5th grader in Colorado.

I Seem To Be Missing . . .

Welcome to another edition of Top Ten Tuesday brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today's topic is book's I refuse to let anyone touch. I really don't have any that I don't want anyone to touch.

I decided to but a spin on this topic and do book's that I loaned and somehow they went missing.

I read The Darkness series by Frank Peretti way back in the 90's when I was going through a pretty rough time. They had a lot of highlights and notes. I loaned them and I never saw them again. so I ended up purchasing them again.




















I have no idea where these beauties disappeared to. My mom got them for me so it's definitely a more sentimental thing.
Most likely they disappeared during a Navy move.

I read these pretty much nightly as a child. My parents say they gave them to me, but I don't remember my girl's reading them when they were growing up. My guess is another faulty military move.

Rainy Day Reads

Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is rainy day reads. Since I am not a fan of cold, rainy, and snowy weather when it's cold and rainy, because that is the type of rainy days we have in Idaho, I want to be somewhere warm. So reading books set in warm weather is where I want to be.


Set in Florida

Set in North Carolina.

I can't remember where this is set, but it has summer in the title which makes it a perfect rainy day read.

Can't go wrong with a swoony PBR bull rider on a ranch in Montana.

This is a favored series because it is set in Ventura, California where I used to live.
Perfect for rainy day reading!

All of these author's are favorites and my go to to read, purchase, and keep on my shelf. If I'm not in the mood for a warm read, which is very unlikely, I just go to my TBR shelf and pick one.
