It's Friday!!!! WHOOT, WHOOT!!! I am so looking forward to some college football and some reading! I've decided to feature Jen Turano's upcoming release To Spark A Match, book two in her Matchmakers series. It releases on November 14th, and there is a Goodreads giveaway that you can enter. Just click this link!
About the book:
After five unsuccessful Seasons on the marriage mart, Miss Adelaide Duveen has resigned herself to the notion that she's destined to remain a spinster forever--a rather dismal prospect, but one that will allow her to concentrate on her darling cats and books. However, when she inadvertently stumbles upon Mr. Gideon Abbott engaged in a clandestine activity during a dinner party, Adelaide finds herself thrust into a world of intrigue that resembles the plots in the spy novels she devours.
Former intelligence agent Gideon Abbott feels responsible for Adelaide after society threatens to banish her because of the distraction she caused to save his case. Hoping to return the favor, he turns to a good friend--and one of high society's leaders--to take Adelaide in hand and turn her fashionable.
When danger surrounds them and Adelaide finds herself a target of the criminals in Gideon's case, the spark of love between them threatens to be quenched for good--along with their lives.

First Line:
HUDSON RIVER VALLEY
Late October 1888
If strolling through the drawing room with the hem of her gown trapped in the folds of her bustle, giving the two hundred upper-drawer society members attending Mrs. Ogden Nelson's intimate dinner party an unfettered view of her drawers, was a precursor of things to come during the approaching New York Season, then Miss Adelaide Duveen was now of the belief she should abandon her quest -- or rather, her mother's quest -- of acquiring one of those oh-so-coveted society matches and simply embrace her spinster state for the rest of her days.
Oh, my goodness, that line makes me giggle all over again!! You can preorder a copy of this book from one of the links above. And there is a giveaway link too, so don't miss that!

I had a giggle about her dressing accident. I had that happen to me once at work, though I wasn't wearing a bustle. I never lived it down.
I love the era that this book is set in. The 19th century has so many intriguing events!

Anne for me it’s wearing white jeans and starting your period in high school. 😩😩
Stephanie, the gilded age era is a wonderful era and Jen Turano does a wonderful job writing historical stories set there.
Thats a great first line! I will be putting this series on my Goodreads want to read list!
Have a great weekend!
