My Thoughts
As a young girl and then a mom of three girls I don't remember that many, or any picture books showing other races other than white. I love how this book beautifully shows this little black girl from birth to adulthood. This story is told from the black girl's perspective and affirms her differences in each aspect of her growing up. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and while I am sure this book will target black families I believe it is a book every family should read and have on their shelves. We are all made in God's image and crowned for His glory.
Dorena Williamson wrote a beautiful book and Shellene Rodney's illustrations enhanced the story.
