Sondra Cunningham is a wife, mother, worship leader, women’s minister, artist, dreamer, interpreter, and the writer of the new novel, “Lavender Tears.” Her words are eloquently written with sincere pathos and personal understanding of life’s hardships. Sondra’s desire is to use her voice in both song and written word, to sing healing over others and inspire the fallen to get back up. My Thoughts

What I liked about the book …

The characterization and fictionalized story the author created of Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and Jesus. 

The emotional highs and lows that Ms. Cunningham put Mary through. It gave connection to the little that is known about Mary. Especially having Mary go through the trauma of rejection, barrenness, and loss are things all of us women deal with and it made her real.

I loved the addition of Mary and her mother being gardeners of lavender. 

What I didn’t like about the book …

When the author had the opportunity to tie things directly to the Bible she missed it by having things chronologically out of order. I also didn't like how the Lord's Prayer was changed toward the end of the book.

I love reading biblical fiction and have read a lot of it. What I enjoy besides the story is that it draws me back to the Bible to read the story again. This book definitely drew me to the Bible and a few commentaries.

Even with the things I didn't like about it the book was a page turner and I wanted to know more about Mary.
