Thursday Encouragement #8

Welcome to another edition of Thursday encouragement. I've joined a few friends to bring you weekly encouragement as we head into the weekend. In our world we all need encouragement.

I was reading Romans 11:11-31 this week about how the Gentiles, us, are grafted into God's chosen people, the Jews and it was mentioned to watch a video on YouTube about how a gardener grafts a new plant into an existing one. I found one and it was super interesting not only to see how it is done but learn about what is needed for the new graft to grow.

The existing strong plant nourishes the new graft, which for me represents Christ. In the plant the new graft needs to get into the cambium layer for cell growth, heart change. And if those things don't happen properly the new plant wont survive.

I love God uses word pictures of plants to help us understand what He is saying to us. Having grown up in the church I didn't understand why I needed to repent of my sins at ten. But, then as I grew I understood. Then there came a time in my life where I had to find my way back and He grafted me in and snugged me tight against the cambium layer so that I could recover and grow stronger. I needed His nourishment like a baby craves milk and protective care that only He could give.

Now, it's your turn . . .

What are your thoughts? Where have you been reading in the Bible lately? Let me know in the comments.

Then go visit my friends for more encouragement.

Hi Nicole! I am so glad that my post blessed you. When Kevin recommended watching a video on a gardener grafting in a new plant I had to watch it. It’s super interesting. I, too, am glad I am grafted in.
