Amanda: A Sweet Romantic Comedy by Sarah Monzon

About the book:

Title: Amanda: A Sweet Romantic Comedy

Author: Sarah Monzon

Series: Sewing in SoCal

“The devil made me do it” is a phrase that will never pass my lips. Why would it when I have Delores, my undiagnosed autoimmune disorder, to make all my decisions for me? (Yes, I named her myself since the doctors couldn’t do it for me.) A get together with friends? Delores says no. I’ll have my prescheduled daily afternoon fever and fatigue at that time.

My two biggest regrets with having Delores direct my fate? One, my family thinks my illness is all in my head. And two, I set the love of my life, Peter Reynolds, free from my anchoring tether so he could fly. I never thought I’d see him again, but five years later he’s soaring in the limelight as one of the most talked-about defensive players in professional football. Oh, and did I mention he also happens to play for the team my boss just assigned me to as a social media manager?

Meanwhile, nothing much has changed for me. Delores still bosses me around, and I’m still hopelessly in love with Peter. What’s a girl to do?

About Sarah Monzon:

A Carol award finalist and Selah award winner, Sarah Monzon is a stay-at-home mom who makes up imaginary friends to have adult conversations with (otherwise known as writing novels). As a navy chaplain's wife, she resides wherever the military happens to station her family and enjoys exploring the beauty of the world around her.

Like most writers, I hear voices, a.k.a my characters, and can't get those voices out of my head until I write down their story (which they tell to me...I have no control whatsoever). Think I'm a bit crazy? That's okay. My husband thinks so too and he still loves me.

My family is my life and I am 100% devoted to them.

I'm socially awkward and canNOT small talk for the life of me. Which, one would think, authors should be good at since we sit and make up dialogue all day. Sigh. I wish that were the case. Thankfully my husband and kids can both talk up a storm so I normally just hide behind them and smile. (This was said in fair warning in case we meet in person)

And because I've admitted I can't carry on a conversation, if there is anything else you want to know about me, just send me a message! Can't wait to hear from you. =)

My Thoughts:

I love that Ms. Monzon created a character with an invisible illness! I have an invisible illness so I could completely relate to Amanda. I also loved that Ms. Monzon had the two main characters attend University of Florida, and the hero was a football player! I was completely in my element reading this story. GO GATORS!!!

I love this series for so many reasons. One of the reasons is the sisterhood of the sewing circle ladies. They remind me of some of my closest relationships at church and from my time as a Navy wife and the camaraderie of walking through the same trials together.

Amanda is currently my favorite but I am anxious for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this series! You don't have to read them in order, however they are so fun if you do.
