Renegades by Marissa Meyer Reviewed

About the book:

Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.
The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies — humans with extraordinary abilities — who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone... except the villains they once overthrew.
Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

My Thoughts:

I am not a big fan of the fantasy/sci-fi genre. It's not one I gravitate to when I am just looking for something to read. I read the Lunar Chronicles and loved them so when an author friend was doing a group read of Renegades by Marissa Meyer, I thought why not, and I'm so glad I did.

All the extraordinary powers each of the characters have made the book extra fun, and definitely added lots of action to the story.

Even though I don't read a lot of this genre, I didn't find the story hard to follow or full of words and descriptions that were confusing. When I read Dune eons ago I had to put it down for that very reason. Ms. Meyer knows how to write and engage the reader.

My Bottom Line:

A fun book, and a great change of pace for what I normally read. Lots of action, a little romance, and a vacation from reality. I highly recommend it!
