About the book:
First, he was a beloved
college football champion, Heisman trophy winner, media sensation, and
best-selling author drafted in the first round of the 2010 Draft. Then
he had a miracle playoff run with the Denver Broncos before being traded
to the New York Jets. After one season he was cut by New York. Next he
was signed by the New England Patriots then let go after training camp—a
scenario that repeated itself the following summer with the
Philadelphia Eagles. Tim Tebow has achieved big victories and plunged
the depths of failure, all while never letting go of his faith, even in
the face of doubt and disappointment. In Shaken he explains why neither
the highs nor the lows of his life can define him—and he reveals how
you, too, can find confidence in your identity and know who you are. In
revealing passages, Tebow pulls back the curtain on his life, sharing
the vulnerable moments of his career that have shaken him to his
core—while also teaching the biblical principles that will enable you to
keep the faith, no matter what comes your way.
Tim Tebow is one of the
most accomplished players in college football history. A two-time winner
of the NCAA National Football Championship with the University of
Florida, Tim is also the first-ever sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy.
He then went on to become a two-time winner of the Maxwell Award for
the nation’s top football player, while also winning the Davey O’Brien
Award for the nation’s best college quarterback and the James E.
Sullivan Award for the most outstanding amateur athlete in any sport. He
is the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation which was started to bring
faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in the darkest
hour of need, and in April 2010, Tim was selected in the first round of
the NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. He lives in Colorado.
My Thoughts:
Since it's Man Crush Monday, and I have finished reading Tim's new book Shaken, I thought today was a perfect day to post my review. First let me say that I am a HUGE football fan, it is my most favorite sport. I've been watching the Gators since I moved to Florida in 1982. Tim is my all - time favorite quarterback. I have followed his career from college, to the NFL, commentating for the SEC, and now his move to baseball. He is an all around American athlete. He is grounded in his faith, and family is the team that has supported him throughout his high's and low's.
In this book, Tim takes us from the high of being a Heisman winner, and an NCAA National Football Championship to being cut from four NFL teams, and having the media run him through a meat grinder. During all of the bad that happened to him, he knew that God had a "bigger" plan for his life, and he continued to give back to those in need.
While this book talks about lots of disappointment, it is very encouraging, and gives hope. It was a very quick, enjoyable read. This would be a perfect read for the child who is seeking to play a sport, Tim is very candid about the elation of victory and the pain of defeat. I highly recommended!
