Thursday Encouragement #7 - Advent: The Journey To Christmas

Happy Friday Eve, and welcome to the season of Advent. I found this devotional, Advent: The Journey To Christmas on the Youversion Bible App. Day one's devotional really got me to thinking. I probably knew this but never really thought about it in this manner, and I wonder if you haven't either.

In Genesis 3:15 God gives His first promise. After Eve eats from the tree of good and evil in the middle of the garden not only does He speaks to both Adam and Eve about their behavior. He then lays down the law, so to speak, to Satan.

“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel.” (Genesis 3:15) Somewhere along the line, among Eve’s offspring, there would come a Savior who would forever rid Satan of his power to separate God from man. Satan would try to stop Him, but the Savior would crush his head."

Christmas begins that process, a beautiful process. God knew they were going to blow it, and knew we would too, so He already planned to give us a Savior to bridge the chasm that was created by Adam and Eve for all of us.

I've read a lot of devotionals over the years as well as a good amount of Advent ones yet I am in awe of how God did all of this. And how willing Christ was to follow His Father's direction.

Now, it's your turn . . . what are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for sharing. It always blows my mind, as well. Truly awesome.

I'm sharing Isaiah 26:3-4 on my blog.

Amen! It is such a beautiful concept to know: that God loves us so much that He planned everything necessary for our salvation from the beginning.

Amen! It's amazing to me how God has thought of it all and knew it all from the beginning. Free will was worth it to Him so that we could have a REAL relationship with Him and REAL love. Amazing <3
