My Thoughts:

This is the third devotion I've read by Sandra Byrd and probably my favorite. She uses stories much like Christ did by telling parables to His followers to make the scripture come alive.

As humans of today with likes, comments, and text messaging, we, as women, are battling our own self-love daily. If you grew up in my generation, it was considered vanity to love yourself, but we not only need to love ourselves, we need to realise and understand how much God loves us, and Sandra Byrd shows us how much we are loved by God in the pages of this book.

This little book is perfect for when you're looking for a quick devotional. The only problem, you'll keep reading because, in Sandra Byrd's style, you won't be able not to read it.

Top Ten Tuesday April Showers Bring May Flowers

Happy Tuesday, and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday sponsored by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today's prompt is April showers bring May flowers. I went through my archives to find these beauties. I love daisies, carnations, and of course roses; but pink is my favorite color so if it's pink it's perfect.

We have lilacs, lilies, roses of Sharon, and daffodils in our yard. My husband is a master gardener and does an amazing job keeping everything alive and blooming.

What's your favorite flower?

Please let me know what your favorite flower is. With Mother's Day on Sunday, this is a perfect prompt. Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.

Top Ten Tuesday Featuring One Word Title Books

Happy Tuesday and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday. Today's topic is one-word titles. Sorry, I missed last week. I fully intended to do it, but time just got away. I hope y'all are having a great summer and staying cool. I'm still recovering from all of the lung illnesses so sadly I've just been inside and haven't seen my grandkids in weeks and I miss them.

I hope you've found a new book or two to add to what I'm sure is a long and growing summer-to-read list.

Have a great Tuesday!!

Top Ten Tuesday - Book Covers That Feel Like Summer

Hi! Welcome to another edition of Top Ten Tuesday. Today's topic is book cover's that feel like summer. Summer is my favorite time of the year! I grew up mainly on the coast so being in a landlocked state, as my husband calls it, is not as much fun. So, I will naturally gravitate to books with beachy scenes.

Do these feel like summer to you? Let me know in the comments.

Heirlooms by Sandra Byrd Reviewed

About the book:

Title: Heirlooms

Author: Sandra Byrd

Genre: Inspirational Dual Time Contemporary

Answering a woman’s desperate call for help, young Navy widow Helen Devries opens her Whidbey Island home as a refuge to Choi Eunhee. As they bond over common losses and a delicate, potentially devastating secret, their friendship spans the remainder of their lives.

After losing her mother, Cassidy Quinn spent her childhood summers with her gran, Helen, at her farmhouse. Nourished by her grandmother’s love and encouragement, Cassidy discovers a passion that she hopes will bloom into a career. But after Helen passes, Cassidy learns that her home and garden have fallen into serious disrepair. Worse, a looming tax debt threatens her inheritance. Facing the loss of her legacy and in need of allies and ideas, Cassidy reaches out to Nick, her former love, despite the complicated emotions brought by having him back in her life.

Cassidy inherits not only the family home but a task, spoken with her grandmother’s final breaths: ask Grace Kim—Eunhee’s granddaughter—to help sort through the contents of the locked hope chest in the attic. As she and Grace dig into the past, they unearth their grandmothers’ long-held secret and more. Each startling revelation reshapes their understanding of their grandmothers and ultimately inspires the courage to take risks and make changes to own their lives.

Set in both modern-day and midcentury Whidbey Island, Washington, this dual-narrative story of four women—grandmothers and granddaughters—intertwines across generations to explore the secrets we keep, the love we pass down, and the heirlooms we inherit from a well-lived life.

My Thoughts

This was a beautiful story of friendship and family both in the past and present and the way the heirlooms of our past contribute to our future. Following the stories of Helen, Eunhee, Cassidy, and Grace Kim were touching.

I loved how Ms. Byrd wove friendship, gardening, cooking, and letters together creating this beautiful bouquet of heirlooms.

Heirlooms make you remember the past have hope for the future and look at ways you can be instrumental in someone's life today.

I highly recommend this book and it releases on Tuesday, July 5, 2022; so preorder your copy today!

First Line Friday Featuring Heirlooms by Sandra Byrd

I haven't participated in First Line Friday for quite a long time. I just finished reading Heirlooms by Sandra Byrd and thought it would be a great book to use for First Line Friday.

Isn't this cover just gorgeous?! I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.

This book releases on July 5, 2022. I'll post pre-order links.

First Line:

March 1958

Helen Devries carefully removed her nurse's cap, her platinum back-combed bouffant, crackling the Aqua Net lacquering it in place. On the television in the back of the living room, Elvis offered a flirty smile and almost wink as he was measured for his uniform.
