 About the book:

Title: Novelly Upon a Time
Author: Sarah Monzon
Series: Book Nerds and Boyfriends

Author Harper Jones prides herself on the impeccable research she does for her novels, so when early reviews come pouring in claiming her romance reeks of inauthenticity, her editor suggests pulling her nose out of her books and getting some real-life smooching experience. But her plans to do just that are thwarted by her archnemesis from high school who has recently returned to town. Now she’s left with an impossible decision—kiss her worst enemy or kiss her three-book contract goodbye.

About Sarah Monzon:

Sarah Monzon is a Navy chaplain's wife and a stay at home mom to the two cutest littles in the world. Playing pretend all day with them isn't enough, she spends the evenings after their heads hit the pillow to create her own imaginary characters. When she isn't in the world of make believe, she can be found in the pine forests of western Washington taking care of her family, fostering friendships, and enjoying all the adventures each day brings.

Her debut novel, The Isaac Project, skyrocketed to Amazon bestseller status while her Sophomore book, Finders Keepers, won the 2017 SELAH award.

Sarah loves connecting with readers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

My Thoughts:

Such a fun, quirky, romantic read! Harper is one of those characters that you can't wait to see what she does next. Her method of researching things for her novels, mainly the romance has you giggling.

Ms. Monzon adds a bit of history in this novella adding to the growing tension between Kyo and Harper. Kyo is that guy in school that drives you crazy, the one that you may want to kiss but you definitely want to smack. The fireworks between Kyo and Harper are palatable through the pages.

I found myself giggling and tearing up as I read this novella. Overall I loved every minute of Kyo and Harper's story. I highly recommend this novella!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via the publisher in association with Ms. Monzon's street team. I was not required to write a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Yes, Kiss Me Again . . . An Intro to Kissing # 2

Thursday, February 14, 2019

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!! Are you looking for some romantic kissing swoon? I sure hope so! I also hope that the kisses I've chosen increase your temperature just a bit and make you think of your sweetheart.

He kissed her. His touch was so achingly familiar. Soft, but still a jolt went through her. The taste of the cigarette he’d smoked while waiting for her to finish with the cops. The lingering cologne, something exotic mixed with the scent of the street. The cotton of his undershirt beneath her hand, the hard planes of his gym-honed chest. His arms curled around her, tugging her in, and for a moment, she surrendered. She softened her mouth to him, let him linger. Call it fatigue or simply loneliness, but she could admit that being with Felipe felt like she’d unearthed a piece of herself that she’d buried so many years ago.

He watched her face for guidance, but she didn’t move, didn’t back away. With careful deliberation, he lowered his lips to hers for the gentlest of kisses. Her lips proved as soft as he’d imagined, an untouched delicacy. The kiss ended much too quickly, but he needed to gauge her response. When he pulled back, she remained unmoving, eyes closed, hands in the pot of water. With a tip of her smile, her gaze fluttered to his. “That was. . .the sweetest thing.”

Before she could talk herself out of it, she pulled off her hat and stretched up to kiss him. It didn’t take long for Justin to recover and draw her closer, his hands going to her waist. If he’d been surprised by her forwardness, now he was in no hurry to move away, every brush of his mouth becoming a question, an inquiry, an exploration. When he teased apart her lips, she somehow lost her balance, melting into him until nothing remained but that moment: his scent, his taste, the feel of his muscular body against her soft one. He finally broke the kiss and stepped back, leaving her shaken and unsteady.

Here's a fan. Go ahead and take a quick break and cool off!

Then in one smooth move his arm lowered across my back, and he pivoted us so my spine was flush against the side of the shed and his wide shoulders blocked the view of our audience at the windows. His other hand came up to cup the side of my face, and his thumb grazed across my cheekbone. He didn’t say anything, but the way his eyes moved back and forth between mine was a conversation in itself. If only I spoke that language. And then, in a breath, his lips were on mine. It wasn’t two semis colliding like my kiss had been. No, it was perfection. Every sigh-worthy, swoon-worthy romantic climax to every tale ever told unfolded in that kiss. His lips moved over mine, igniting a passion and longing deep in my soul. My hands slid over his chest, clung to his shirt as I pulled him in even closer to me. Clinging, because I knew if I didn’t hold on for dear life, I’d plunge over the cliff of no return.

Katie reached up and kissed him full on the lips, redirecting his mind toward more immediate matters. “In the meanwhile, what do you say we focus on that ball team?” Luke grinned as he nuzzled her throat, gently pushing her back down on the couch. “Just warming up to run the bases, coach,” he whispered, teasing her lips open with a playful flick of his tongue. “But I’m warning you right now, Katie Rose.” He leaned in to deepen his kiss, body thrumming while he explored her mouth with his own. “It’s gonna be a home run.”

He nearly kissed her in that breath, fast and firm and achingly swift, but he had to pull on every ounce of his self-control for his touch to be as feather-light as possible. His father’s teaching was the only thing keeping him sane. You will go to them humbly. Humbly. You will go to them with strength. Strength. You will go to them without fear. No fear. And then his lips met hers. She was soft and she was silk. His mind and heart whirled with all that she was to him. Like the dripping of wax to an envelope, he felt a press and a pain and a freedom that something had just sealed inside him. He held her that way for only a heartbeat, then pulled away. But she slid her hand behind his neck and tugged him back. Kissing him. And then his world went white. Everything but her… gone.

His mouth met hers softly and then thoroughly, so capably she didn’t want him to stop. Nor did he want to, clearly. Within the intimacy of those endless kisses came a melding of thoughts and desires, hopes and dreams. A oneness that bespoke a coming union that time and distance could not alter.

Are you still with me? *Tap *Tap *Tap . . . Breathing? I hope so! If you feel weak in the knees feel free to take a break on this fainting couch.

Are you woozy? Melting in a puddle? I hope so! That's what these kisses are supposed to do. Suspend our thinking and make us dreamy. If you've read any of these author's books before I'm sure you've experienced these emotions more than once.

I want to know your favorite kisses. Tell me in the comments and then visit my dear friend Carrie, of Reading Is Super Power and see her kissing post.

Author Interview and a Giveaway: Kaitlin Covel & Atoning For Ashes

Wednesday, February 13, 2019

Hi Kaitlin, welcome to Radiant Light. It’s nice to have you here.

Kaitlin: Thank you, Andi! It is great to be here!

Let’s break the ice with some fun get to know you questions.

Me: Mountains or beach?

Kaitlin: Mountains are beautiful, but I’m a beach girl 100%!

Me: I'm right there with you! I was born in California, and as a Navy brat, former Navy wife I lived in more beach states than any other.

Me: Novella or long novel?

Kaitlin: I’ll take a nice long novel any day! The longer the better!

Me: I love a novella for a quick read, but long novels are the best!

Me: Hymns or Choruses?

Kaitlin: Hymns. I’m an old-fashioned girl in more ways than one. My favorite hymn is Be Thou My Vision.

Me: I like both. My favorite hymn would be A Mighty Fortress.

Me: E-book or physical copy?

Kaitlin: If I had a reading preference, I would prefer paperback, but I have to admit: I love the convenience of downloading e-books!

Me: I am the same way. I also like the ease of searching for something instead of flipping through all the pages if I didn't flag it.

Me: Do you have a favored genre, author, or series?

Kaitlin: My favored genre is Historical Fiction. That hasn’t changed ever since I was a little girl and discovered that history fascinated me!

Me: I'm a Historical Fiction fan as well.

Me: What inspired you to write?

My love of words I suppose. Words have been musical to my ears for as long as I can remember!

Me: I love that!

Me: What is your writing Kryptonite?

Noise! Sounds really distract me so I listen to instrumental music when I write to drown out unwanted noise.

Me: I understand that one!

Me: What defines literary success to you?

The definition of literary success to me is when the author reaches their audience with the message they had in mind while also delivering a captivating story with a sound plot, strong characters, and a believable setting. Charles Dickens is an excellent example of this in my opinion!

Me: That's beautiful and so true! As a reader it is those things that draw me to books, especially Christian fiction and make me continue to read.

Me: How realistic is your upcoming release, Atoning for Ashes? And what inspired you to write it?

Kaitlin: I’m a realist by nature, but I’m also an old-fashioned romantic. I love happy endings, but to me a happy ending is all the richer if the characters face some hardship first. In my opinion, Atoning for Ashes is realistic perhaps with the exception of the happy ending because I know those don’t always occur in real life. What inspired me to write it was imagining how the commonplace “marriage-of-convenience” story would end up if the man and woman actually fell in love.

Me: What book or books were your favorite growing up?

Kaitlin: Many classics including: the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery, Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley, All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney Taylor, Nancy Drew mysteries by Carolyn Keene, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm by Kate Douglas Wiggin, Lad: A Dog by Albert Payson Terhune, Lassie Come Home by Eric Knight, Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Weiss, all books by Thornton Burgess, and many others. As you can tell, I loved books with animal characters when I was growing up!

Me: Those are some great books!

Me: Which author would you consider a mentor? And how have they mentored you?

I’ve met many authors who have truly been a blessing, but I would consider Laura Frantz to be a mentor as well as a dear author friend. She endorsed my debut novel, she has provided valuable advice and insight, and she has been so supportive and encouraging throughout the launching process of Atoning for Ashes!

Me: Laura is a special lady and friend. I have enjoyed reading all of her books. I do think she mentioned your book to me before you contacted me on Twitter.

Me: What would you like to tell us about your upcoming release, Atoning for Ashes?

Atoning for Ashes releases on February 14th, 2019. I’m hosting a launch party at 6 PM EST on my Facebook author page: @AuthorKaitlinCovel. You are most welcome to join me!

I am so grateful to Kaitlin for stopping by today and she has offered a signed paperback copy of Atoning for Ashes to one of my readers!!!!

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Angelina

Monday, February 11, 2019

Today is my birth mother's birthday, she would have been 68. She passed six years ago, just five days before my birthday in 2013. I will never be able to repay her self sacrifice as a fourteen year old girl who had been raped to choose life for me instead of ending it like her mother wanted.

I located her and my younger siblings some time in 1992, I was pregnant with my youngest child and I felt an instant connection with all of them. Time and distance affected our ability to stay in touch. I do wish I had reconnected with her prior to her passing so I would've been able to meet her face to face and make sure she knew how much I loved her, and thankful I was for her gift to me.

I have to thank my siblings, Nikki and Tracy, for telling me how much she loved me, was concerned about me, wanted me to be happy, but most of all how every January 19th they celebrated my birthday.

Being adopted comes with it's pluses and minuses. For me as a pre-teen/teen there was a desire to know the woman who gave me life, and my story of conception to fill an empty hole. Finding out the trauma she'd endured was horrible. Yet, it showed me what a strong and self-less woman she was.
I thought once I knew those things the hole would be filled, and it was, until I found out she'd passed and what was once filled was now empty again. Last Mother's Day was the beginning of missing her all over again. Not because I don't have a mom to celebrate, I do, in fact her birthday is tomorrow, pretty ironic, huh? However, I will never stop missing Angelina, who I lovingly refer to as mama, she will always have a place in my heart. And I will forever be grateful for her love, sacrifice, and not being ashamed of me.

My baby sister, Tracy told me today that her heart was so big that she's probably up in heaven making someone a birthday cake instead of accepting one herself. I can actually picture that, and what a beautiful picture to think about on a day we should be making one for her.

Happy Birthday, Mama! I hope you let someone bake you a cake in heaven but I know you're probably happier making one for someone else.

I love you and miss you!!

Pat Nichols is proving it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

During the spring, summer, and early autumn of her life this side of heaven, she and her high-school-sweetheart husband struggled and triumphed through life’s peaks and valleys. They raised two children, welcomed four grandchildren—one is with the angels—bought a Corvette, and ticked off every item on their travel bucket list. Now approaching her winter years, she ignores the minor aches that come with age and is grateful she can still paint her own toenails and dance with her hubby.

Following twenty-five years in six different management positions with an international beauty company, Pat launched career number two as a novelist and freelance editor. She chose women’s fiction to honor her daughter’s strength in the face of significant health issues and the loss of a child. Her corporate experience, working with hundreds of amazing women from all walks of life, inspires her to create stories about women who confront challenges in the pursuit of their dreams.

Although she writes five days a week, she and Tim—her best friend and number one fan—continue to celebrate their fifty-plus-year marriage. They lead a small group, volunteer for church guest services, participate in two social organizations, and spend time with family and friends. She thanks God for the blessings that brought her joy and the challenges that continue to strengthen her faith, skills, and resolve.

Pat was born in Illinois, grew up in Orlando, and has called Georgia home since the eighties. She lives in an Atlanta suburb, is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers, Word Weavers, Christian Pen, and Gwinnett Church (a campus of Northpoint Ministries).

Spotlight Excerpt:

As far back as Emily Hayes could remember, her heart yearned for a sister. She directed her earliest requests to Santa Claus, which made Christmas mornings a confusing blend of excitement and disenchantment. Later she bargained with God. He disappointed her too. When she learned where babies came from, she petitioned her mom with promises to keep her room clean and be the best sister in the whole-wide world. Nothing worked. At some point the pleas stopped, but the lingering desire left a hole in her heart.
Thursday morning, she stepped outside the white-columned-home converted to a hospital and traced her ultrasound image with her finger. It wasn’t at all what she’d expected. She pressed her hand to her chest to ease the fluttering sensation, slipped the photo in her jeans pocket, and texted her husband. Have results. Meet me in the park in five.
A cool breeze nipped her cheeks and rustled the new crop of leaves on the mature willow-oaks lining Main Street. She dropped her phone in her purse, pulled her sweater tight, and crossed the two-lane road to the sidewalk fronting a grand estate. White columns extending from a railing supported the roof over the wide, front porch. The home was weeks away from final transformation to the Willow Inn, thanks to her parents' first effort to save their town from a slow, painful death.

Breach of Trust (Atlanta Justice, #3) by Rachel Dylan Reviewed

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

About the book:

Title: Breach of Trust
Author: Rachel Dylan
Series: Atlanta Justice, Book #3
Publisher: Bethany House Publishers

Corporate litigator Mia Shaw suffers the shock of her life when she finds her colleague and friend brutally murdered. Grief-stricken and furious, Mia vows that she will do anything to seek justice and make the killer pay.
The man accused of the murder is a friend of security tech guru Noah Ramirez, but the evidence just doesn't add up. To save his former ATF partner, Noah needs to convince Mia that the real killer is still on the loose.
Mia soon has more than the criminal prosecution to worry about, however. She is tasked with taking over her friend's last case and learns he was hiding secrets about his client. She thinks she may have stumbled upon corporate espionage that has turned deadly, but she has no idea of the danger involved. Her only ally is Noah, despite their difference of opinion on the homicide case. Can he win Mia over to his side and protect her from ever-growing threats?

About Rachel:

Rachel Dylan writes legal thrillers and legal romantic suspense. Rachel has practiced law for over a decade including being a litigator at one of the nation’s top law firms. She enjoys weaving together legal and suspenseful stories. Rachel writes the Atlanta Justice Series which features strong, female attorneys in Atlanta. Deadly Proof, the first book in the Atlanta Justice series, is a CBA bestseller, a Daphne du Maurier Finalist, a Holt Medallion Finalist, and an FHL Reader’s Choice Award Finalist. Rachel lives in Michigan with her husband and five furkids–two dogs and three cats. Rachel loves to connect with readers. She is represented by Sarah Younger at Nancy Yost Literary Agency.  You can find Rachel at

My Thoughts:

Ms. Dylan is quickly becoming a favored legal thriller romance author among Christian fiction readers. For me, it seemed like there was a lull in the area of courtroom novels so I am very glad Rachel Dylan added writing to her law practice.

This is book three in her Atlanta Justice series and I am sad to see it end. Ms. Dylan starts the book off with quite the bombshell, but you'll have to read the book to find out.

One of the many reasons I enjoy Ms. Dylan's books so much is because she shows the inner workings of litigation, and gives a birds eye view of the courtroom. Like Agatha Christie she creates twists and turns you don't see coming and keeps you guessing up to last page.

Mia is probably my favorite character in this book. She is broken and very new in her faith which challenges her as she does her job as a defense lawyer. Noah and Mia's relationship is intense as they don't see eye to eye as they work on the murder case together.

This was a wonderful finale to a great series. I can't wait for more books by this very talented author.

I highly recommend this book. I do recommend that you read the series in order to fully enjoy this book.
