Discover the Story Behind a Secret Passageway

Walk through Doors to the Past via a new series of historical stories of romance and adventure.

Gracie Kingston begins renovations on the Philadelphia house inherited from her grandmother and finds a secret room. It is connected to a house nearby, the home of William Still, the man known as the father of the Underground Railroad. As she researches, she discovers a mystery in her house’s ownership. In 1855, Olivia Kingston helped a mother and her young child by hiding them in a secret room in her home. As she helps, she learns there may be an impostor conductor in their community. As Gracie’s and Olivia’s stories intertwine, they learn the meaning of sacrifice and love.

My Thoughts:

When I first started this book I didn't realize it was a dual-time novel so imagine my happy surprise finding out it was.

I read about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad when I homeschooled my children and this book brought back a lot of fun memories about learning about the Underground Railroad.

I adored Gracie and it was fun watching her uncover the hidden room as well as finding out the historical ties to another house.

In dual-time novels, I'm never sure whether I enjoy the historical timeline or the present-day better. Terri J. Haynes did such a fabulous job with this book I loved it all and was completely emersed in it.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via the publisher. I wasn't required to write a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks, Cindy! It’s the first thing that’s made me feel normal, writing a review, since Sunday. My dad was rushed to the hospital for a heart episode. He’s home now, but it was a crazy 24 hours.
I think you’d really like it!
