Top Ten Tuesday - Unpopular Bookish Opinions

Happy Tuesday, folks. We're one day closer to Friday! Today's topic for Top Ten Tuesday is a strange one. I had to use Google to figure it out. I've tried to think of a way to spin it and I just can't. I'm going to plan on ducking now from any rotten tomatoes that are thrown my way. LOL  All of my choices will relate to Inspirational fiction not the general market.

ONE - What is a popular book or series that you didn't like?

My mom adored the Mitford series. I tried and tried to get into them but for me the writing just wasn't engaging.

TWO - What is a popular character that everyone seemed to love but you didn't?

I know this will be completely unpopular and I know I will have to duck and cover! Willa Forsythe from the Shadows Over England series. I loved her in book one of the series but in book two I just couldn't connect with her and I was so sad.

THREE - What is a popular book trope that you get tired of?

First, I always have to look up what "trope" means. LOL When I read I don't think of the plot in terms of a trope. I can't think of a lot of books with this particular "trope", at least off the top of my head, but I'd have to say soul mate fate. The ones where you know they are going to end up together. Like Cinderella and Prince Charming.

FOUR - What is a movie/T.V. series of a book or series you liked better than the book?

This is an easy answer. The Shack! I didn't like the book for so many reasons. And not the characters. But the movie was 110 times better than the book for me!

FIVE - What is a popular book genre that you never reach for?

Another easy one. When I first started reviewing I read a lot of Amish books and I mean a lot. While I do enjoy the simplistic lifestyle as a break from our crazy one, it seems as though each one is the same and they get boring to me.

Not even close to TEN. Please remember as you read my list that reading is subjective and I am in no way putting down the author's who write these amazing books or readers who love them!

Do you have an unpopular opinion? Let me know in the comments.

I can relate to some of these. I've had a similar experience to your answer for #2. Meeting a character in one book, liking them, then reading about the same character in another book and not connecting.

I think #2 is the most difficult especially when you liked the character in a previous book. It’s also the most frustrating!
