The Masterpiece by Francine Rivers - Reviewed

 About the book:

Title: The Masterpiece
Author: Francine Rivers
Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance

New York Times bestselling author Francine Rivers returns to her romance roots with this unexpected and redemptive love story, a probing tale that reminds us that mercy can shape even the most broken among us into an imperfect yet stunning masterpiece.
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want―money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman’s past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn’t know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist―an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.
Like Roman, Grace is wrestling with ghosts and secrets of her own. After a disastrous marriage threw her life completely off course, she vowed never to let love steal her dreams again. But as she gets to know the enigmatic man behind the reputation, it’s as if the jagged pieces of both of their pasts slowly begin to fit together . . . until something so unexpected happens that it changes the course of their relationship―and both their lives―forever.

My Thoughts:

Without sounding cliche, this book is truly a masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed the art angle, and the placing of the story in Topanga Canyon was a lot of fun for me. I've been by the canyon several times so I could visualize the area.

Ms. Rivers creates flawed characters who are hurting, hiding secrets, and battling their own private ghosts. Within the 496 pages of this book we watch a masterpiece created from rubble. Which mirrors exactly what Christ does in our own personal walk with Him. It was beautiful to see broken,  hurting people change as well as encouraging my own heart at how He continues to take my brokenness and make me more like Him.

My Bottom Line:

Reading this book was like seeing a beautiful painting, and sitting at the beach watching the tide come in. At first you may only see one color, but as you look more and more is revealed to show the true masterpiece. I have enjoyed every book of Ms. Rivers' that I have read, and this book is one of my favorites.
I have to say the cover was a big pull for me to read it. I love the graffiti design of it.

I do recommend this book.
