I'm not going to be very popular today, but that's okay. In every generation there seems to be one sin that the Christian community zero's in on. When I was a kid adultery was the main focus, now it is homosexuality. While both are against God's law so are others that Christians refuse to even consider.
Now you might say, well I don't go out and rob a bank, steal from a store, etc. However if you call yourself a believer and . . .
You don't pay your tithe, 10% of your wages to God you are stealing from Him.
"Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.
What about not paying taxes/cheating the government?
And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at Him.
Jesus used Caesar as his example because the Jews and the Gentiles would understand his comparison.
How about taking supplies from your work? That is stealing.
“You shall not steal."
What about that "white" lie you tell your boss? You're not really sick but you want to stay home.
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." (False witness: any form of deception.)
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.
but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
I could go on and on about what sin is according to God's word. The reason for this blog post is because I am beyond annoyed at "believers" who claim to be following God yet they focus on one "sin" but don't see their own. We are called to hold each other accountable, within the body of Christ, not point fingers at those who are not apart of the body of Christ.
In John 13:34, Christ calls us to love one another, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. Some how along the way we get self-righteous and forget that part.
Matthew 7:3 tells us Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Meaning why are we so busy looking at another person's sin and not cleaning up our own act.
Believe me I don't want anyone to go to hell. However, it's not my choice, God gave us free will, to choose or not to choose him. Hence Adam and Eve in the garden. I believe the Holy Spirit will impress himself upon unbelievers when the time is right for them, and it is not my job to point fingers, it is my job to love them. I am far beyond perfect. Christ was the only perfect person on this earth. I am saved by grace and learning as I walk with him.
