My Thoughts:

I am not an Orthodox Christian, nor do I believe in their religious views. I do not believe a baby needs to be baptized to ensure they will go to heaven if they die. If all of that was removed this would be a fabulous story! I loved the character of Helene! I thought she was fun and loved how she stepped up to care for her mom and premie baby brother. As well as stood up to Father Nektarii. He was a real jerk!
Overall, the story has awesome potential, I just think that the book is saturated in religion and for me, that was a turn-off.
