From the author of the Sisters, Ink series comes a fun new novella about finding your way…at the beach.
Elizabeth
Bakersfield may live in the gorgeous town of Naples, Florida, but she
is not the thirty-year-old she envisioned. Her husband left with a Miami
Dolphins cheerleader. Her job prospects are nil. The rent is due. Her
best friend is living a thousand miles away, building a career in NYC.
And her closest companion is the cockatiel Johnny Carson.
The
job front starts looking up when she’s offered the position of caretaker
of Ganderley’s – a library, kind of. Elizabeth’s job is to loan out the
priceless antiques and cars amassed by the widowed Ganderley sisters.
Easy, right? Sign things out, get them back in two weeks. And, if she
runs into trouble, there’s the gorgeous Ganderley nephew with the
British accent, Nicholas Harrington, waiting in the wings with help.
But
Elizabeth is about to learn first-hand that possessions – and gorgeous
Brits - bring their own kind of drama. If she doesn’t figure out how to
sidestep it, her job (not to mention the start of a new life) might be
over before it ever really began.

Paige Turned
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
A few things about her:
So, if we were having this conversation in person, we would probably be hanging out at Starbucks or one of the cute coffeehouses in town. I’m nuts about all things coffee, I’m crazy about all things pink and girly, and I love, love, love the Food Network! I’m married to my best friend and the most amazing guy ever, Jon. He is amiable toward coffee, does not like anything pink or girly and tolerates the Food Network. So, we make a good match! In July 2010, we became parents to one of the funniest, cutest, sweetest little guys in the whole world (and nope, we aren’t biased at all!), our Nater-Tot, who is legally known as Nathan. Most days, I’m cleaning up messes, making goofy faces, trying to fit some writing in, and just LOVING the life that God has given me!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Despite her valiant efforts, Paige Alder seems stuck in chaos. Her new job as youth intern keeps her hopping from coffee shop to coffee shop all summer long, but at least she’s loving the one-on-one time she gets to spend with the girls. The unfortunate side-effect is that now, four weeks of laundry fills her apartment. Plus, she barely has time to help her sister and best friend with their weddings! And even worse? Something is definitely wrong between her and Tyler. She apologized for what he thought he saw happen with Luke. Can’t they move past it? Or could there be something he’s not telling her—something that could change everything?

Answering
an advertisement for a "Lone Star bride," she leaves her Texas ranch

Burned
by love, he marries now simply to satisfy the board of Morgan Bank,
which believes a man of his standing in society should be wed. Together
Jake and Marty agree they are done with romance and love and will make
this nothing more than a marriage of convenience.
When
missing money and a collapsing economy threaten his job, Jake's
yearning to return to ranching grows ever stronger, much to Marty's
dismay. But a fondness has grown between them, as well, further
complicating matters.

My Take:
I loved this book from beginning to end! Mail order brides is something that I find very intriguing, so when I read the synopsis I knew I would enjoy it.
Marty wants to escape Texas, her husband was killed and she has no desire to stay in Texas. She answers an add for a bride and moves to Denver, Colorado. On the way, the stagecoach that she is traveling in gets attacked by bandits and she protects all the travelers using her rifle and shooting at them. When the story is told she is regaled as a hero. When she arrives, Jake picks her up and they go straight to the church to get married. This is a marriage of "convenience", Jake is needing a wife because of his job. However, working at the Morgan Bank could be a detriment to his health.
Both Marty and Jake have secrets, and as they unfold their relationship is transformed.
Tracie paints with wide brush strokes and you become part of the story. This will be one of my tops for 2014. Highly recommended!

Born to an ex-Amish mother and an Englisch father, 23-year-old Tyler Anderson was raised as a military kid until the age of 6, when his mom passed away. His dad, shipping off to yet another overseas post, placed Tyler in the care of his Amish grandparents, an arrangement that was supposed to be temporary. It lasted a lifetime.

When an opportunity to connect with his father unexpectedly arises, a visit to California causes Tyler to question everything, including a future with Rachel. Will the new girl in his life, Lark, cause him to remain in the Englisch world? Or will he choose to be an Amish groom after all?

A Promise in Pieces
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
A Word from the Author:
I’m Emily, and I’m honored and humbled to meet you, friend. We’re all stumbling along on this journey and you can approach me about anything okay? I’m an open book, with dog-eared pages and a worn cover.
I’m mama to two boys, ages two and four, and married to a farm-boy-turned-math-teacher. We live in a small Dutch hamlet with three churches, one Co-Op and no stop lights. There are a lot of fields out here, there’s a lot of space and sky for breathing and running and writing.
We foster two boys in addition to our own two, and before I had kids, I took care of my Mum who had brain cancer. She fought back and has recovered, all glory to God, and my pastor-father still holds her hand while they go for daily walks.
I battled anorexia nervosa as a child, and then again as a newly married woman, and I write a lot about body image now and have a passion for women to learn to love themselves.
My husband and I have battled infertility and are currently trying to adopt our third child through the local Alberta government.
I hurt for the church, and believe in it, and pray for it, as I’ve grown up inside its walls and have heard its groanings.
I have a heart for Africa, particularly Uganda, and went there in January on a bloggers’ trip with World Help.
My favorite things to do are read literary novels, play guitar, snowboard, paint with oil and acrylics and hug my babies.
I am the author of two books on eating disorders, a novel releasing this spring, and a memoir coming out this summer.
I hope you’ll connect with me on FB: https://www.facebook.com/emilytwierenga, or if you prefer, Twitter: @emily_wierenga. I’d love to have a virtual glass of wine, or cup of coffee, with you.
Peace to you friends,

Now a labor and delivery nurse in her rural hometown, Clara wraps each new babe in the gifted quilt and later stitches the child’s name into the cloth. As each new child is welcomed by the quilt, Clara begins to wonder whatever happened to Mattie—and if her own life would ever experience the love of a newborn. Lip Reading
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
A Word from Harry:
I started writing my first novel during my last year of surgery training at UK. I was a chief resident, and started writing Stainless Steal Hearts in a call room at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lexington. It was a crazy time to write! I had a very demanding schedule, often spending days and nights in the hospital. I had two sons at that time, and I recognized the wisdom in my wife's urging: "Now doesn't seem the right time for this dream."
My experience as a writer is far from typical. Having received my formal training in biology and chemistry and medicine, my only preparation for a writing career was a love for reading. The longest thing I'd written before my first novel was a term paper in undergraduate school. My first novel was accepted by Crossway Books and published in 1994, and it wasn't until after I had FOUR published novels that I even opened a book of instruction about the craft of writing fiction. This is not what I recommend to others! Yes, I was successful, but I was bending the "rules" without knowing it. I had a natural talent for plotting, but I realize my initial success may have stunted my growth as a writer. I'd have made faster progress if I'd have gone to the fiction teachers sooner.
I have three sons: Joel, Evan, and Samuel. Look closely in all of my books and you'll see them there. My lovely wife, Kris, provides the basic composition for all those beautiful, athletic, dedicated women in my novels.
ABOUT THE BOOK
She Could Save Millions, or Save Herself
She just needs a little longer. She’s really close. Dr. Rebecca Jackson, a medical researcher, stands on the verge of a breakthrough that will transform medicine. But she soon discovers the reason behind the miraculous progress in her research, and it leaves her with a nearly impossible choice . . . and little time to decide. More than her research is at stake. And more threatens it than this latest revelation. Something she’s tried hard to cover up. There is a high cost to some things in medicine and it’s not always the patient who pays. Can Rebecca find the faith and wisdom she needs to make the right call? The clock is ticking and the pressure is on.

Interview with Tosca Lee ... One of my Favorite Authors!!!!
An
Interview with Tosca Lee, Author of Iscariot
History has called him many things: Thief. Liar. Traitor. Reviled
throughout history and infamous for his suicide, he is the man whose very name
is synonymous with betrayal . . .
And the only disciple that Jesus called “friend.”
Judas.
But who would take a journey through
the Lenten season with Judas, of all people?
The answer: readers of New York Times
bestselling author Tosca Lee's Iscariot,
in which Lee dares to delve into biblical history’s most maligned character—from his tumultuous
childhood to his emergence as the man known to the world as the betrayer of
Jesus. But more than the story of one man, Iscariot
is a view into the life of Jesus that forces readers to reexamine what they
thought they knew about two of the most famous—and infamous—religious icons in
history.
The study guide, “A Journey with
Judas," is available to book clubs and small groups free along with daily devotionals
from now until Easter at toscalee.com.
Who is Tosca Lee, and why did she choose to write
a book on the Bible’s most controversial character? An interview with the
award-winning author of Havah: The Story
of Eve and the Books of Mortals trilogy (with Ted Dekker) follows.
Q: How did you start writing biblical fiction?
A: I kind of fell into it, actually. Around 2000,
I wrote this story about a fallen angel. I did it in six weeks. And then it
took nearly seven years to sell. When we were doing the deal, the editor said,
“What else do you have?” I rummaged around and found one page I had done a year
before of a very old Eve starting to tell her story. I don’t know why I started
writing that, but I pulled it out and said, “I have this!” And they bought it.
It eventually became the prologue to Havah:
The Story of Eve.
Q: Why Judas? Of all people—why did you choose to write
about him?
A: Several years ago, an editor—the
same editor who acquired Demon and Havah—suggested a story on Judas. I’d
already done a fallen angel and Eve, after all. I flatly refused. Too much
research. Too much controversy. Too hard. But the idea started following me
around. Finally, about a year later, I was sitting in this New York restaurant
eating dinner and found myself scribbling a scene between Judas and his mother
on the paper tablecloth. I knew then I was a goner. I realized I wanted to become
this disciple Jesus called “friend,” wanted to slip into his skin and sit down
next to this enigmatic teacher and healer that people to this day call
“Messiah.” I wanted to see and experience him, for myself.
I tore the scene off, shoved it in my
purse, and called my agent a few days later, hoping he would talk me out of it.
He didn’t. After two years of research, with much fear and trembling, I started
writing.
Q: Did you always want to be a writer?
A: Writing was never the plan,
even though I’d won some contests growing up in school. Ballet was my first
love—I danced with a local ballet company as a teenager and spent my summers
studying dance in Kansas City and New York. But within a few years I literally
outgrew ballet: I’m nearly six feet tall en pointe. After a torn groin and
other injuries, I knew it just wasn’t going to happen. The summer after my
freshman year in college, I decided I’d take a stab at writing a novel. I wrote
it. It got rejected. It’s still in a crate down in my basement like a skeleton.
I’m afraid to look at it. It’s probably got three arms and two heads.
Q: What’s the coolest
thing about writing biblical/historical fiction?
A: We all know the story of
Judas, of Adam and Eve—of myriad other two-dimensional characters we first met
as flannel board characters in Sunday School with just the barest detail to
define the morality tale of their lives. But if these were real people, then they had hopes, aspirations, influences, and
motivations. There’s always more to the story. And that makes them much more
like us than we might care to admit. That’s scary. Inevitably—and this happened
with Iscariot, too—there comes a
point about hallway through the story where I realize I’m no longer writing
Judas’ story, or Eve’s… but my own.
Q: Iscariot has been recognized as a Best
Christian Fiction title of 2013 by the Library Journal and has been nominated
for several other awards. Why do you think Iscariot
resonates with readers?
A: I think because like
Judas, we are all seeking answers. We are seeking some kind of
deliverance—maybe not from Roman occupation, but from a situation, or a fear,
or a sickness, anything. We are looking for answers, and expecting God to
intervene in certain ways. I think we all identify with trying so hard to do
the right things, with having expectations for how God will act, and how, if I
do this and that, God will do this and that. But it doesn’t always work out
that way, and the question becomes how we will respond. I think we all can
identify with that. And I think we all find ourselves completely ruined, in the
best and worst of ways, by love we cannot understand.
Q: What do you do when you’re not writing?
A: I love to adventure
travel—whether it’s fishing for piranha in the Amazon or trekking through the
Balkans, every now and then I just have to get out of town. And I cook. There
was a time when I could burn water and ruin cereal, but today I make a pretty
mean quiche and haven’t managed to poison anyone in years.
Q: What’s next for you?
A: The Queen of Sheba! I figured it was
time to be a girl again.

What Follows After by Dan Walsh
About the book:
In October 1962, Colt Harrison and his little brother, Timmy, hatched a plan. They would run away from their Florida home, head for their aunt's house in Savannah, Georgia, and refuse to come home until their parents got back together. But things go terribly, terribly wrong. Colt's mother and father must come to grips with years of neglect and mistrust in order to recover their beloved sons, their love for one another, and their broken marriage.
In this emotional story, Dan Walsh takes readers on a journey to rediscover the things that matter most in life--love, truth, and family.
Dan Walsh's debut novel, The Unfinished Gift, rec'd a 4.5 Stars/Top Pick rating from RT Book Reviews and won 2 Carol Awards. It continues to be an Amazon bestseller during the Christmas season 4 years later.
With the sequel, The Homecoming, book reviewers began to liken his writing to NY Times bestselling author, Nicholas Sparks. Dan's 3rd novel, The Deepest Waters, earned his 3rd Carol Award for Best Short Historical. His 4th novel, Remembering Christmas became his first bestseller.
Since then, Dan has written 4 more novels. The Discovery and The Reunion were both finalists for RT's Inspirational Book of the Year. The Reunion has also been optioned for a movie by a Hallmark producer.
The other 2 novels, The Dance and The Promise, are co-authored with Gary Smalley, part of a 4-book series. The Dance has already become a CBA and an ECPA Bestseller.
Dan lives in the Daytona Beach area with his wife, Cindi, where he's busy researching and writing his next novel. They've been married for 36 years and have 2 grown children and 1 grandson.
You can read more about Dan on his website:
My Take:
When I pick up a Dan Walsh novel, I know I am in for an emotional roller coaster ride, and What Follows After was that and more.
Imagine you and your spouse are having difficulties, you separate, and force your children to lie about your separation. The kids hate it, and decide to run away in hopes that it will bring them back together. That is exactly what happens in this book. Colt the older brother convinces his younger brother, Timmy to run away. While running away is bad enough, something terrible happens that puts the entire family on pins and needles, it also sets the reader on the edge of their seats, turning pages faster than they can catch all the action. This by far is my favorite Dan Walsh novel, and will make my top list for the year! Don't miss this great book!
Highly recommended!

He has been a big brother to her, yet as they begin to get closer the feelings that he has ignored resurface, will he tell her and will she return them.
In this second book of the Chapel Springs series, Denise gives us a closer look at the McKinley family and the relationship between Daniel and Jade. Daniel makes Jade want to dance again.
Denise is one of my favorite romance authors. I don't need to read the synopsis of the book to know that I am going to love it. While this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone, however I recommend that you read book one Barefoot Summer.

Sing for Me
About the Book:
When a good church girl starts singing in a jazz club and falls for the music—as well as a handsome African American man—she struggles to reconcile her childhood faith with her newfound passions.
Raised in the Danish Baptist Church, Rose Sorensen knows it’s wrong to sing worldly songs. But Rose still yearns for those she hears on the radio—“Cheek to Cheek,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”—and sings them when no one is around.
One day, Rose’s cousin takes her to Calliope’s, a jazz club, where she discovers an exciting world she never knew existed. Here, blacks and whites mingle, brought together by their shared love of music. And though Rose worries it’s wrong—her parents already have a stable husband in mind for her—she can’t stop thinking about the African American pianist of the Chess Men, Theo Chastain. When Rose returns to the jazz club, she is offered the role of singer for the Chess Men. The job would provide money to care for her sister, Sophy, who has cerebral palsy—but at what cost?
As Rose gets to know Theo, their fledgling relationship faces prejudices she never imagined. And as she struggles to balance the dream world of Calliope’s with her cold, hard reality, she also wrestles with God’s call for her life. Can she be a jazz singer? Or will her faith suffer because of her worldly ways?
Set in Depression-era Chicago and rich in historical detail, Sing for Me is a beautiful, evocative story about finding real, unflinching love and embracing—at all costs—your calling.
My Thoughts:
Rose sneaks out with her cousin who takes her to this jazz club to sing. What she sees when she gets to the club is everything her parents have told her to stay away from, yet she is drawn not only to the club, but to the pianist of the Chess Men.
This is a rich story that just sings. Recommended!
