by

Lena Nelson

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Award-winning author, Lena Nelson Dooley, has more than 675,000 books in print. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers http://www.acfw.com/ and president of the local chapter, DFW Ready Writers. She’s also a member of Christian Authors Network, CROWN Fiction Marketing, and Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas.

Lena loves James, her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. She loves chocolate, cherries, chocolate-covered cherries, and spending time with friends. Travel is always on her horizon. Cruising, Galveston, the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, Mexico. One day it will be Hawaii and Australia, but probably not the same year. Helping other authors become published really floats her boat, with fifteen signing their first book contract after her mentoring. Three of her books have been awarded the Carol Award silver pins from American Christian Fiction Writers and she has received the ACFW Mentor of the Year award at their national conference. The high point of her day is receiving feedback from her readers, especially people whose lives have been changed by her books. And she loves chocolate, especially dark chocolate.

ABOUT THE BOOK

When her mother dies, Mary Lenora must grow up quickly to take care of her brothers and sisters. Can love help her to shoulder the burden?

Mary Lenora Caine knows she is adopted. As she was growing up, her mother called her “God’s blessing.” But now that she’s gone, Mary no longer feels like any kind of blessing. Her father, in his grief, has cut himself off from the family, leaving the running of the home entirely in Mary’s hands.

As she nears her eighteenth birthday, Mary can’t see anything in her future but drudgery. Then her childhood friend Daniel begins to court her, promising her a life of riches and ease. But her fairy-tale dreams turn to dust when her family becomes too much for Daniel, and he abandons her in her time of deepest need.

Will Daniel come to grips with God’s plan for him? And if he does return, can Mary trust that this time he will really follow through?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Mary's Blessing, go HERE.

Lena has penned another heart wrenching book about the McKenna daughters. I loved Maggie's Journey and Mary's Blessing did not disappoint!
Mary's mother has died and her father leaves everything to Mary. He doesn't even attend church with the family, and Mary is so embarrassed. When her brothers get sick with the measles she is practically run ragged taking care of them and all of the household chores. The ladies of the church step in and let her father know that he is taking advantage of Mary, that he needs to be the parent here.
Mary's friend Daniel begins to court her and she sees a light at the end of the tunnel. Will she really be Daniel's wife and get a true fairy-tale?

This is a beautiful book about how to be a true servant of Christ, even when things are difficult. I loved how the prologue took you back to the Oregon Trail where Mary was born. It brought the reader who may not have read the first book right into the story. Mary knew she was adopted which made the story harder, with loosing her mother. At the end of the book there is a glimpse into the next story, the third baby girl who was adopted. I am anxious to read that one. These books are very dear to me as an adopted child myself. Lena has done a wonderful job writing them. I highly recommend this one!

Free Kindle Download - Kicking Eternity

Book Blurb:
Stuck in sleepy New Smyrna Beach one last summer, Raine socks away her camp pay checks, worries about her druggy brother, and ignores trouble: Cal Koomer. She’s a plane ticket away from teaching orphans in Africa, and not even Cal’s surfer six-pack and the chinks she spies in his rebel armor will derail her.
The artist in Cal begs to paint Raine’s ivory skin, high cheek bones, and internal sparklers behind her eyes, but falling for her would caterwaul him into his parents’ life. No thanks. The girl was self-righteous waiting to happen. Mom served sanctimony like vegetables, three servings a day, and he had a gut full.
Rec Director Drew taunts her with “Rainey” and calls her an enabler. He is so infernally there like a horsefly—till he buzzes back to his ex.
Raine’s brother tweaks. Her dream of Africa dies small deaths. Will she figure out what to fight for and what to free before it’s too late?
For anyone who’s ever wrestled with her dreams.

My Thoughts:

In this debut novel Ann brings us some great characters that you will love to care about. These four main characters are staff members at a Christian camp for the summer. One is a recent high school graduate the others are in their mid 20's. Raine is there just to earn money to go to Africa as a missionary.  During this summer she meets Drew and Cal who both fall in love with her. Ann creates many twists and turns that keep you up late at night to find out what happens.
Ann writes about things that touches all families today and she writes about it with honesty and realism.

Praying God's Word for Your Husband - Kathi Lipp

Book Blurb:
Women often offer up polite prayers to God without any real hope of seeing change in their marriage, their husbands, or themselves. Kathi Lipp directs women to Scripture and shows wives how to pray God's Word boldly and in full confidence of seeing God-sized results. With a light touch and an approachable style, Lipp shows women what a blessing it is to pray for their husbands, addressing specific concerns, like praying for his parenting career and finances relationship with God and others emotional health future and more Lipp shows readers how to stop feeling helpless and start making a difference in their husbands' lives through bold, expectant prayer, whether they are new believers or have been walking with God for years.

My Thoughts:  I found this book to be very formatted, and regimented as far as praying for my husband. Maybe it is because I am in my second marriage and during my divorce and healing process I did a lot of learning about marriage and relationships and know more about what God requires from both the husband and the wife.
In praying for my husband I am not regimented or formatted, God lays on my heart what I need to pray for him, and I do, and I believe if we are in tune with God as we should be He will guide us to how we should pray.
I would recommend this book for a newlywed, someone who is just starting out.

by

Karen Witemeyer

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Karen Witemeyer is a deacon's wife and mother of three who believes the world needs more happily-ever-afters. To that end, she combines her love of bygone eras with her passion for helping women mature in Christ to craft historical romance novels that lift the spirit and nurture the soul.

After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid- to late1800s.

Karen is living her dream by writing Christian historical romance novels for Bethany House.

ABOUT THE BOOK

No one steps on Archer land. Not if they value their life. But when Meredith Hayes overhears a lethal plot to burn the Archer brothers off their ranch, a twelve-year-old debt compels her to take the risk.

Fourteen years of constant vigilance hardens a man. Yet when Travis Archer confronts a female trespasser with the same vivid blue eyes as the courageous young girl he once aided, he can't bring himself to send her away. And when an act of sacrifice leaves her injured and her reputation in shreds, gratitude and guilt send him riding to her rescue once again.

Waiting for Sunrise: A Cedar Key Novel - Reviewed

Book Blurb:

Life sometimes gets the best of us. For some it's the daily pressures, for others it's the shadows of the past. For Patsy Milstrap, it's both. When she travels to beautiful Cedar Key on Florida's Gulf Coast in search of healing, she never dreams her past will be waiting for her there.
With a large helping of Southern charm, "Waiting for Sunrise" is a touching story of family, young love, and the need for forgiveness. Author Eva Marie Everson expertly draws out the bittersweet moments of life, weaving them into a tale that envelops the soul.

My Thoughts:  Patsy's past comes face to face with her when her and her husband Gilbert arrive in Cedar Key for vacation; someone who knows the same pain she knew, who watched their mother be abused, and was abused himself at the hands of pure evil!
Eva Marie writes a book that is heart - wrenching, tear at your heart family drama, that you can't put down. You will find yourself cheering for Patsy, and Billy! This is a book you do not want to miss!

Available June 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
