Bathsheba - Reviewed

Book Description :

Can love triumph over treachery?

Bathsheba is a woman who longs for love. With her husband away fighting the king's wars, she battles encroaching loneliness--which makes it all too easy to succumb to the advances of King David. Will one night of unbridled passion destroy everything she holds dear? Can she find forgiveness at the feet of the Almighty? Or has her sin separated her from God forever?

With a historian's sharp eye for detail and a novelist's creative spirit, Jill Eileen Smith brings to life the passionate and emotional story of David's most famous--and infamous--wife. You will never read the story of David and Bathsheba the same way again.

As someone who did the Precept Bible study A Man After God's Heart by Kay Arthur, was a quizzing leader who taught kids 1st and 2nd Samuel I knew the story of David and Bathsheba quite well. However, Jill's book had me going back to my Bible to look at my notes. Jill has written a book that takes you to the heart of not only David, but Bathsheba. In this beautiful book you get to see the heartbreak that Bathsheba suffers because of the sin that David and her commit. I also learned that Proverbs 31 was about Bathsheba, David says it to her on his dying bed - You are my Priceless Jewel, Her husband is known at the city gates, when he sites among the elders among the land. When you read this book you will walk away with a heart broken and contrite to God, knowing that He truly loves His people, He hates sin, punishes it, redeems it and restores His people. He longs to be in fellowship with them and Jill did a beautiful job showing that! I highly recommend this book and I give it a lighthouse for pointing a path to God!
