My Review of Extraordinary by John Bevere

Book Description:
Isn’t it true that we long to see the extraordinary, experience the extraordinary, do the extraordinary? Yet, so often we settle for mediocrity when greatness is within our grasp. Why are we drawn to stories of heroic triumph over seemingly impossible circumstances? In our fascination with adventure movies, superheroes, and tales of incredible human feats, do we reveal an inherent desire for something larger and greater in life? Maybe what we think is a need to escape or be entertained is actually a God inspired longing…for the extraordinary.Best-selling author John Bevere reveals how all of us were “meant for more,” extraordinarily created and intended for a life that is anything but ordinary. Here is the roadmap for your journey of transformation. You are marked for a life that far surpasses the usual definitions of success or fulfillment.Isn’t it time to pursue your extraordinary life?
My Thoughts: Ok . . . this book started out pretty good, and then I started noticing some questionable things. First off John Bevere uses several different versions of the Bible, which for me in a book such as this is inconsistent and doesn't stay to one line of thought. The other thing he does when quoting scripture is not use the verse before or below so you don't get the complete context of the scripture.
He actually believes that because God saw us before we were born, that everyday of our lives were recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16 NLT - That God has set GOALS for us. He even goes farther using a scripture from Ephesians 2:10 this time from the amplified Bible For we are God's own handiwork(His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live). He says we are to seek out the GOALS that God has for us and if we do not seek them out then we are not living a life pleasing to God. This is just one example of John Bevere's messed up theology. It is throughout the book. Since I was questionable about this book I did some research about John Bevere, he use to work for Benny Hinn - that was a huge red flag. I don't recommend this book at all. I give this book a shipwrecked boat because I believe it will shipwreck your faith.
