My review of The Shack by William P. Young

The Shack
The Shack

by William P. Young

Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend.

Frommipov: There are lots of theology problems with this book!
First off - if you're going to write a book about God visiting you make sure you don't take away or add to the Bible. That's a BIG NO - NO! God warns against that!
I'm not talking about "Papa" being a big black woman or anything like that. I'm talking about serious points of God leaving Christ when He was hanging on the cross - Uh that happened and there being a God-head has to be - you can't go changing the Bible.
God makes it clear in Philippians 2:12 that we are to work out our faith with fear and trembling. It seems to me that's what William P. Young did in this book. Fine and dandy. The idea is great, I cried with the ending. Just don't claim to write a "Christian" book and change God's holy word! It just doesn't FLY!

I haven't read The Shack yet, but I've read enough about it to know that you're right in your comments. Thanks for your honesty.
