My Fall TBR List

Monday, September 17, 2018

Today on Top Ten Tuesday it is Fall TBR. It seems as though my Summer and Winter TBR grows by leaps and bounds but my Fall TBR is smaller. I have no idea why, it just seems to work that way. I can pretty much guarantee my Fall TBR will grow before Christmas gets here.

What's on your Fall TBR? Do we have any of the same ones?

If My People Will Humble Themselves and Pray

Thursday, September 13, 2018

Last night an article posted in Publisher's Weekly regarding sexual harassment within the Christian publishing world hit Facebook.  I was reading it as I was laying in bed last night and began crying. I don't know the men mentioned in the article personally. I was friends with Chip MacGregor on Facebook for awhile. But, I've never met him in person so I can't agree or disagree with what has or hasn't happened at a Christian writer's conference. And until I read the article I'd never heard of Jeff Gerke or Ben Wolf, and I've been reviewing on this blog for nearly twelve years.

With that said, I want to point out that this article was written by a secular publication. Meaning they are not in the business of reconciliation like Christianity Today, and Focus On the Family.

I am completely and utterly disgusted that this is even a topic of discussion among those of us within the Christian publishing world. When I think of authors, publishers, blog tour companies, etc. I see friends, people I have come to love and champion. This does need to be a discussion but more in preventative measure, not like this. After thinking about it, praying about it and discussing this with two people I highly trust this almost seems like a witch hunt.

Let's be real here. Place men and women in one place without spouses Christian or not and there is a high probability of impropriety. We're all human and we screw up a lot! Whether we're intentional or not. Two people at the right place, wrong time, and a look, smile, compliment and watch out! Especially if one or both are in a vulnerable place. A fight with a spouse, or a marriage on the skids creates a recipe for disaster!

As I stated above I've never met Mr. Macgregor personally. I did read his confession regarding this entire situation. I don't have permission to post it here simply because I don't know him well enough to ask. He says he was a jerk, goes as far as to say he was an asshole. Personally that takes a lot of guts in the writing world where it is one; cut throat, and most of the authors are women.

Which brings me to my entire reason for this post. Publisher's Weekly is posting only the women's side and very little of the men's side, if none at all. Laying the Christianity aside, in our country everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Add in being a Christian, striving to be Christlike and we are called to hold accountable but not place judgement. Forgive seventy times seven. Help our brother and sister. Yet, in the last twelve hours it's seems as though the believers within the publishing world, and I confess I fell into that trap until I learned more, have jumped on a bandwagon of misinformation and shaming instead of finding ways for reconciliation.

If all of this isn't bad enough, in seven days the American Christian Fiction Writers Conference will take place in Nashville, Tennessee. How perfect for the enemy to use this article to distract, dismay, and disrupt what God has planned to do.

My hope and prayer is that everyone who loves and adores Christian fiction as well as the authors as much as I do will lift them up in prayer to heal and bring restoration not division.

My heart is broken and I honestly can't even imagine how horrible this is for everyone involved and the last thing I want is for the enemy to win!

2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

I am adding a footnote to this post.

I have been told several times today that the writer of the article in PW is a Christian author, something I did not know. Nothing against her or her knowledge, I do wonder if the article would have had a different slant had it been published in a Christian publication.

I do think it is important to add that the reason this situation has gone on as long as it has is because no one talked about it even though most of the people on the circuit knew about it. There are a lot more men in power than the ones that were named involved in the situation. Hopefully by naming names, which I'm not a fan of, may bring a stop to it.

My point in writing this is first because I am a survivor of both sexual assault by a man in my church when I was a teen, as well as being raped by my ex husband, is to point every victim of sexual assault to Christ the one and only healer.

Can't Wait For - December

Friday, September 7, 2018

Weirdly, I only found two books for release in December. Kinda strange. I've searched all over and haven't found any others from the major Christian publishers.

I found out some Indie authors who are releasing in September and October.

Dan Walsh is re-releasing to of his favored Christmas books. They come out on September 25th.

You can pre-order them at these links.

Remembering Christmas Here.

Keeping Christmas Here.

In October Sarah Monzon is releasing her new novella, Literarily for Keeps. If you've not read her other bookish novella, Bookishly Ever After, you need to! It is delightfully charming and full of bookish love!

The book covers will take you to Amazon to pre-order. Except for Literarily for Keeps that will take you to Sarah Monzon's website.

I can't believe I forgot about this one on Wednesday, and I'm on the launch team for it. Definite epilepsy brain forgetfulness.

It's scheduled to release on October 16th.

My favorite covers are these two.

Can't Wait For - November

Thursday, September 6, 2018

If you know of books releasing in November or you have one please let me know.

My favorite covers from these upcoming releases are . . .

The cover designers do a great job creating eye-catching covers. Each of these covers are definite eye-catching and make you just want to dive into the book.

Are any of your Can't Wait For November books in my list?
