We made it to Friday, which means it's First Line Friday! Grab the book closest to you and leave the first line in the comment section.

Today I am featuring , , ,

About the book:

Miss Permilia Griswold, the wallflower behind "The Quill" gossip column, knows everything that goes on in the ballrooms of New York. When she overhears a threat against the estimable Mr. Asher Rutherford, she's determined to warn him. Away from society's spotlight, Asher and Permilia discover there's more going on behind the scenes than they anticipated.

First Line:

March 1883 - New York City

Pressing her nose against the glass of the carriage window, Miss Permilia Griswold felt her stomach begin to churn as she took note of the throngs of people lining Fifth Avenue.

Visit my other blogger friends, see their first line's and leave yours in the comment section. I have an extra copy of this book which means there is a giveaway at the end of this post. As always, mark your place, and keep reading!

Let's see a first line... How about from Wed on the wagon by Tracy blalock: "You're supposed to be a man, so stop acting like a girl, Matilda Prescott silently warned herself."

I just finished "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio, which I really enjoyed. The book opens with this line, "I know I'm not an ordinary ten-year-old kid."

Happy Friday! My first line is: “For a moment she couldn’t breathe, and then the barest whisper passed her lips – half spontaneous praise half simple awe. ‘Oh my… I’ve found Paradise!’ ” From Spring Raine by Delia Latham

HE IS WORTHY

Honor the Lord you heavenly beings: honor the Lord for his glory and strength. Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 29:1-2

I HAVE FLOWN A LOT OF MILES in the past twenty years, so not surprisingly, I take many things about the experience for granted. From Worship Changes Everything by Darlene Zschech

My first "line"...
"Good morning, Lord, it's time to rise.
The sun is shining bright.
I've got my day ahead of me.
Please help me do what's right."

Sounds like there will be plenty of intrigue in that read! Which reminds me of the book I'll be reviewing this Monday on my blog, The Patriot & The Loyalist by Angela K. Couch, so I'll share the first line from that book:

South Carolina, November 1780
Daniel Reid slowed his horse and sucked air into his lungs as he reined to the road’s grassy edge.

I love reading about the Gilded Age. Seeing 5th Avenue at the time, all those mansions, wow.

I am currently reading this and you will enjoy it. Ms. Turano does a great job creating a visual world with her words.
