GCB - ABC's new show . . . Good Christian B*tches . . . My take

There has been a lot of "talk" in the Christian blogging community and among the authors I review for about this show. I didn't see the pilot that aired on Sunday, Thank you Jesus, I did tape it which aired Thursday night. Before I go into what the pilot was about can I say REALLY, SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!? I thought Desperate Housewives was bad, this one is 10x worse.

Amanda's (Leslie Bibb) husband commits suicide and she returns from California to her home in Dallas, Texas, with her two children. She does not want to live with her mother (Annie Potts) yet she has no choice. Amanda was a popular girl in high school, all the guys wanted to date her and all the girls wanted to be her. No sooner is she back then gossip starts flying between the girls she "wronged" in school. No one will give her a job, or help her find a "decent" home because their all still mad at her.
She eventually finds a job at a place similar to "Hooters" and when it all comes out that it is being owned by "good Christian" women and Amanda puts them in their place in church no less you see fur fly.

My problem with this show is . . . scripture is used out of context, and I hate that more than anything! It pokes fun at hypocrisy, in the Christian realm we have enough problem with hypocrisy as it is we don't need Hollywood poking fun out of it. When Amanda, apologized and was genuine about how she behaved in her past, it was laughed at. That is not at all how we are called to be and for me, it just continues to paint Christians in a bad light. I definitely will not be watching this show nor will I recommend it!
